Instructor:

Andrew Prescott, B.Ac. (UK), Dipl.Ac. (NCCAOM), L.Ac. (NC) Andrew recently published a book on this topic titled Cloud Gate: Acupuncture Point Names/A Comprehensive Compendium. He has thoroughly researched the Chinese language in its classical form and the rooting of the point names in the pictographic origins of the characters. He has an appreciation for the poetic and metaphorical origins of the characters, as well as the functional significance of the points as they have evolved through the Five Element and TCM traditions. The emphasis in Cloud Gate is on finding the common ground, the underlying intellectual framework that unites ideas.
Andrew has been practicing acupuncture since 1977. He completed his initial training at the College of Traditional Acupuncture (CTA) in the UK, going on to receive a post-graduate advanced degree from J.R. Worsley. He is trained in the Five Element tradition and studied TCM, as required for U.S. national board exams. He served for seven years as clinical director at Jung Tao School of Classical Chinese Medicine (a school in NC inspired by the teachings of Van Nghi), and has a broad and unique perspective on Chinese medicine.
